Forest Gate, a four season rental, is not just a house, it is an experience. Imagine staying in a lovely new log chalet, with all of the comforts of home, surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine forest, yet be so close to so many cultural, artistic, gastronomic and nature-oriented activities.
Hear only the rustling breezes of the surrounding trees and the owls talking to each other at night from the comfort of this haven. Yet within a very short time you can travel to nearby towns teeming with restaurants, arts centers, performance venues, galleries, museums, historical homes, antique stores, gardens and more. There are many houses to rent but not many provide an all-inclusive experience like this.
Winter Scene
Forest Gate is located in the bucolic and scenic town of Monterey, in the Southern Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. It is only approximately 2.5 hours by car from both Boston and NYC and is minutes away from the fascinating towns of Great Barrington and Stockbridge.
The Berkshires region is world-renowned as a sophisticated hub of art, music and dance. It is also known for its breath-taking hills and mountains and all of the hiking and skiing that go along with it.
This stunning 2007 contemporary chalet-style genuine log home sits on 10 private acres. Natural beauty and wildlife abound. Across the street from Forest Gate is an entrance to Beartown State Forest, a 12,000 acre little-traveled "forest playground" where one can hike a short distance to the Appalachian Trail, mountain bike, snowshoe and cross-country ski. There are three lakes for boating and swimming in the immediate area, the closest of which is 3 short miles away.
